After a lot of research and thought, we decided to put R19 fiberglass in between the ceiling joists and get all the exterior walls stuffed with densely packed cellulose. This job was to be professionally done by Don Patten Insulation out of Cambridge, NY.

This is the netting that is put over the studs to hold the cellulose which is blown in at a very high pressure.
In this picture, you can kind of see what the netting looks like after the cellulose was blown in.

here's a closeup of the cellulose - mostly recycled & ground up newspapers treated with borate to make it somewhat fire retardent and an unhappy residence for mice and vermin.
